We were in one of the most beautiful places in the world Friday, August 24th and Saturday, August 25- the mountains of Western North Carolina. OK, I am a bit biased because I spent my teenage years here in the mountains and it is where my Dad was born and bred. That being said, it IS beautiful! Mike was speaking in the small town of Mars Hill at Mars Hill College. There were around 20 churches in the area that worked hard to get the word out about the Friday and Saturday evening conference. Thanks to everyone who had a part in the planning and running of the event. Here is a picture of a banner on Main Street announcing the Answers Conference. There were signs and posters all over the place.

We were pleased with the attendance – there were lots of youth and pastors from VA, TN, and of course, NC. We hope to come back to this area to hold some training classes. Here is a picture of the conference in the college auditorium – it was a bit dark in there, but you can get the idea.

We stayed in a cottage way back in the hills that was built to give traveling teachers a quiet place to stay. The only sounds we heard at night were crickets. Thank you to all who take care of this beautiful place.

Mars Hill is north of Asheville, NC. If you have never been to Asheville, it is a wonderful place to visit. The Biltmore Estate, built by George Washington Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895, is worth the trip. We visited it several years ago when Mike was speaking in the area. This trip we drove to the Grove Park Inn to see why it is so well-known. We were very impressed with the size and beauty of this resort that was built in 1913. There have been 10 US Presidents and many other historic figures who have stayed there.
