Sunday morning service at Milan Baptist Church

Mike and I drove to Milan, MI on Friday, Jan. 6th. We had no idea what a treat we were in for. We started the evening with dinner at the home of Pastor Doug Strader and his wife, Lisa. That was the first of many delicious home cooked meals that we had. We certainly enjoyed the fellowship that goes along with the meals just as much as the food. Then on Saturday morning, Mike spoke at a men’s breakfast. There were over 65 men and youth who came to hear Mike. Thanks to all the men who got up so early on Saturday to fix the wonderful breakfast. Then we had lunch at Neal and Barb Collins’ home. We needed to rest up a bit so we could then have a great dinner at Jim and Joan Hendee’s home. Wow, what a ministry!

Sunday School at Milan Baptist

On Sunday morning, Mike spoke to an overflowing Sunday School on dinosaurs and the Bible. The church service was also filled with an audience that was responsive and eager to learn about God’s Word from the very beginning verse. John and Ynita Swomley were also there in ministry with the children. If you have never heard of them, they have sessions for the kids using “magic”, puppets, balloon modeling, etc.  We highly recommend them, if your church would like some quality children’s ministry that will teach the kids about creation and so much more, and your church is east of the Mississippi (as they are based in West Virginia and will travel to venues within a reasonable day’s drive from their home). Their web site is www.JandYministry.com. We all met after church at the home of Dave and Mary Gable for another great meal and fellowship.

On Sunday and Monday evenings, Mike had 2 sessions at the church and we had meals with Gene and Adah Bushart, Paul and Shirley Dunbar, and Ron and Jan Hasselbring. Thanks to all of these gracious people for feeding us and making us feel so “at home”. In between the meals on Monday, Pastor Doug escorted Mike to 3 different schools in the area. We pray that the words spoken there will impact the students and they will stand firm as they grow in their faith.

We are home for the weekend of Jan. 15 -16 to attend a gymnastics meet featuring our 2 granddaughters. We will let you know how that goes.
