For the second January in a row, we are blessed to be at Milan Baptist Church, Milan, MI for a Creation themed weekend. Pastor Doug Strader worked hard to bring together several like-minded churches in the area to sponsor this conference. We started the trip with Mike speaking in the Family Life Center for the youth “Your Spot” program. It provides area youth in sixth through 12th grades of all faiths a free and supportive environment in which to grow positive relationships with peers and adults. It starts at 6:30 every Thursday night with games and snacks and a speaker at 7:30. We were very impressed with the way the volunteer adults faithfully come every week to run this program.

On Friday, Jan. 11 Mike spoke in 4 area schools accompanied by Pastor Doug. That was a busy day but well worth the effort. I went shopping for lunch and snack items for our Saturday Basic Creation Training class. Each evening we had dinner with a couple from the church. On Friday we went for a nice steak dinner with Joe and Myrna Porter and then drove to Southside Baptist Tabernacle Church in Ypsilanti, MI where Mike gave 2 lectures. Whew, what a day!

On Saturday we spent the entire day with 64 students at the Basic Teacher Training Class. That was the second largest class we have ever had. This is what Creation Training Initiative is all about – equipping others to teach! We want to thank everyone who worked to set up the class and help with all of the details. Now we pray that many will share what they have learned with others. We then ejoyed a home cooked dinner with Jerry and Sharon David. We had several young people at the class. The conference started with a breakfast meeting on Sunday morning and then was followed by five more lectures on Sunday and Monday. We had special meals with Roger Luurtsema, Shirley Dunbar, and Bob and Carol Armstrong. Many thanks to all of the wonderful food and fellowship. Steve McConaughy, a volunteer with Answers in Genesis, drove up from Toledo, OH for each evening session and helped with anything that I asked. He has been to several of our events that are within driving distance and we appreciate his expertise.
