A Patriotic Weekend

First Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC

MIke and I were priviledged to go to First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC this past weekend where Mike gave his patriotic talk, “America, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”, for the three morning services.  One of the themes of his talk was “Unforgettable Men and Women in Unforgettable Times”. There have been thousands and thousands of  unforgettable men and women who have given their lives so that we can celebrate the Forth of July as free people. Unfortunately, today we seem to be giving away that freedom and the rights that are God-given to the state. America is in a spiritual war that requires unforgettable men and women who will take a stand for the Truth and teach it to our youth.

It was exciting to see so many of the congregation dressed in red, white and blue. The choir led us in three verses of the Star Spangled Banner and a stirring rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Two weeks ago we drove ten hours to Walloon Lake Community Church in Northern Michigan. Mike spoke for the Sunday services and again in the evening. I did not get pictures I am sorry to say. It was a great church in a beautiful place. I did get some pictures of Petosky, MI where we stayed. It is located on Lake Michigan and is a popular tourist spot. Mike and I got the chance to walk along the shore on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning, very early, we drove to Mackinaw City, MI and took the 7:30 am ferry to Mackinac Island where no cars are allowed. Mike spoke 6 times to youth at the 2011 Michigan District Senior High Youth Gathering. He had a group that came to all of his talks.

We pray that they will take what they learned and use it to answer the questions they will be facing as college students.
