On Sunday morning, June 12th, Mike spoke at this quaint
little church, Kinkaid Christian Fellowship in Ava, IL. He taught
about Dinosaurs during Sunday School and his sermon
was “Genesis and Biblical Discernment”. It was great to see the small band of believers coming together to worship and praise our Creator God. After church, we had lunch with Pastor Darrell Neathery and his wife, Gaila.
Between the two events on Friday and Sunday, Mike and I had the priviledge of staying with Dr. Bob and Beverly Smith in Ava, IL. They have a beautiful home out in the country and we started each morning sitting on their back porch watching a swarm of hummingbirds feeding. Mike actually had some land on his finger! That was a relaxing way to enjoy the morning. Beverly and Bob fixed us two great breakfasts and took us out for some fun on Saturday.
We drove to the Bald Knob Cross of Peace. It is the tallest cross in the western hemisphere above average terrain situated in the beautiful Illinois Ozark Mountains. Among the other sites we saw, was a statue of Popeye in Chester, IL – right by the mighty Mississippi River. This is where Popeye was born in 1929. We certainly enjoyed our time there and send many thanks to the Smiths.
